Alpharetta, GA, is a lovely suburban town 25 miles from Atlanta. It’s a great place to live, with a comfortable lifestyle and plenty of beautiful spots for photoshoots. In this article, I’m excited to share some of my favorite photoshoot locations within the city limit, each offering a unique backdrop that adds something special to every photo session. Whether you’re planning a family, a marriage proposal, or a branding photoshoot, these locations in Alpharetta are perfect for creating beautiful photos.
Best photoshoot locations in Alpharetta GA
Avalon Alpharetta is a popular outdoor shopping mall and entertainment center in Alpharetta, known for its vibrant mix of restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment options. With eateries like Café Intermezzo, stylish clothing stores such as Anthropologie, and cosmetic shops like SEPHORA and Dior, Avalon Alpharetta has become a successful real estate development since its opening in 2014, continually expanding and growing in popularity.
Avalon in Alpharetta
If you’re planning a photoshoot at Avalon Alpharetta, getting permission first is important. You can either contact them in advance or stop by the Concierge on the day of your shoot to fill out a request for a commercial photoshoot. After completing the paperwork, they’ll provide you with a badge you attach to your shirt, signifying that you’re authorized to take photos throughout Avalon. This step is essential to ensure your photoshoot goes smoothly without interruptions from security, so be sure to set aside some time before your session to handle this.
Avalon Alpharetta is one of the best locations for business portraits and branding photoshoots. The surrounding stores, business centers, and co-working spaces create an urban backdrop perfect for capturing a professional business portrait.
For the best lighting and to avoid crowds, I recommend scheduling your photoshoot in the morning. I once did a branding photoshoot for leadership coach Kara Willis at Avalon, starting around 9 AM on a weekday. The results were fantastic; you can check them out in this online gallery.
Some of my favorite photoshoot spots within Avalon Alpharetta include: the area near the fountain next to the Regal Avalon movie theater, the backside view of Café Intermezzo with its European-style statues and curvy bench, and the outdoor seating area at SPACES co-working. These locations offer a range of interesting and visually appealing backgrounds that you can explore to find unique angles and add your own creative touch to any photoshoot.
Alpharetta Parks
Brooke Street Park
Brooke Street Park, located downtown near City Hall, is one of the main Alpharetta Parks and is my favorite outdoor location for photoshoots. This charming park offers a romantic and elegant atmosphere in a compact, cozy space. It’s perfect for creating a feeling of warmth and comfort in your photos. The park features beautiful statues, benches, and a small creek—though it’s modest compared to Roswell Mill Creek. I particularly enjoy using this park for flying dress photoshoots, as its intimate setting adds a magical touch to the images.

Thompson Street Park
Thompson Street Park is a charming, small park located very close to Avalon Alpharetta. It’s an ideal spot for a brief mini photoshoot, whether you’re capturing a couple’s portrait or a surprise proposal in Alpharetta. The park offers a discreet setting for a marriage proposal, with its lovely water pond, benches, and a couple of swings providing a variety of outdoor props for creative and memorable photos. Its compact layout and picturesque features make it a perfect choice for capturing special moments in a serene and personal setting.

Lakeview Parkway Park
Lakeview Parkway Park is an excellent choice for engagement, maternity, and family documentary photoshoots. It’s especially ideal for a marriage proposal if you’re looking for a secluded spot with no people around. The park features a large water pond, benches, gazebos, bridges, and plenty of trees, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop for your photos. It’s located behind the Colonial Pipeline building in Alpharetta, near the new Lakeview apartment and condo complex.

Wills Park
Wills Park is a popular spot in Alpharetta, well-loved for family gatherings and evening strolls. The park features a pool, multiple baseball fields, and an Equestrian Center. While several areas within the park can work for a photoshoot, I recommend using it only if other options don’t meet the client’s needs. The park is quite expansive, so there can be much walking between different photoshoot locations. This can be a consideration if you’re looking for a more convenient or compact setting. However, if you’re up for exploring its spaces, Wills Park offers natural backgrounds with lots of greenery, trees, and swings.
