“Using ‘impossible’ as an excuse leads to inertia or endless delay in pursuing goals. It has companions – ‘I don’t want to,’ ‘I can’t,’ and their leader, ‘I’m afraid,’ with its advisor, ‘What if I fail.’ Together, they’re the dream killers.
Labeling something as ‘impossible’ is merely an evasion tactic from our body’s instinctive need for safety and our nervous system’s inclination to avoid risk. But ponder this – if we dismiss something as impossible, why bother trying, right?
Yet, pause and consider: Who’s saying this? It’s your own voice echoing doubts. By embracing this negative notion of ‘impossible,’ you’re essentially erasing all your aspirations and ambitions.
What If Impossible Is Nothing
What if I told you that impossible is nothing and in fact everything is possible? Would you believe it?
When I began my journey in photography, I never anticipated the magical realm I would enter by saying ‘Yes’ to my dream and turning it into a goal. Just like in Lewis Carroll’s beloved fairy tale ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ I pursued the ‘white rabbit’ of my dreams. Through a long and winding path, I discovered an extraordinary world where tenacious efforts, a positive mindset, and confidence make anything possible.
There’s a wonderful quote from Paolo Coelho’s book “The Alchemist”: “If a person really wants something, then the whole Universe will help make his wish come true.” I wholeheartedly believe in this, and I’ve had numerous experiences in my life that validate it.
When I decided to become a photographer, I didn’t have money to buy a professional camera. For some time, I practiced with a simple, compact camera and kept dreaming about a better one. Six months into my photography studies, I stumbled upon an incredible camera sale, that happened due to the release of newer models. That’s how I acquired my first professional camera Nikon D90. And even though it only had a standard zoom lens, I was very happy! Purchasing my first professional camera gave me a fresh boost of inspiration and moved me one step toward my dream of becoming a professional photographer.
When I began my journey as a wedding photographer, my gear consisted of one camera, two lenses, and a flash. Initially, I started with the same Nikon D90, but with better lenses, and later upgraded to the Nikon D700 paired with the amazing Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. However, these upgrades didn’t happen overnight; it was a gradual process that required significant effort to acquire my favorite photographic equipment. With each step forward, my passion for photography only grew stronger.
When you wholeheartedly love something, circumstances and obstacles can’t hold you back; instead, they serve as motivation for more active pursuits.
I began my photography career with a simple camera, and now I have a decent photography equipment collection. Yet, every time I browse online photo stores, I want more. It’s an endless process; you always crave something better, more fashionable, or newer.
But waiting for the perfect opportunity, when the stars align, and you can afford top-of-the-line photographic gear, might mean you never start. If you’re truly passionate about becoming a photographer, there’s only one thing standing between you and that dream: action. There’s no sense in delaying until tomorrow because tomorrow is the future. Right now is the only time to begin. So start with what you have, and start now!
Impossible is nothing! Believe in yourself, trust in your dreams! Each of us has our own dream, and the path to achieving it will vary. You possess the strength and, most importantly, the time to make it happen.
Don’t delay until tomorrow—begin now. The magical energy in the words “I can, I will succeed, I will achieve my goal” will fuel your journey. Yes, pursuing your goal isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly exciting!
