Muted petals, soft light, a whisper of fragrance in the air… Time slows. Beauty lingers. For a moment, the world feels gentler As if flowers remember something we’ve forgotten. In 2024, I attended the opening reception of a flower exhibition by the incredibly talented florist and designer Skye Lin, the founder of Pinker Times. @pinkertimesofficial The Pinker Times exhibition was light, immersive, and full of emotion. The main attraction, of course, was the flower sculptures: delicate compositions of preserved and silk flowers in different colors, textures, and shapes. I was mesmerized by Skye’s signature palette: soft, muted tones that carry a sense of quiet sophistication and tangible elegance. Each arrangement felt alive, almost as if the flowers were dancing together in a slow, graceful ballet. Through a Vintage Film Camera I Found Time Again ... Taking photos with old vintage film camera for the first time felt like stepping into another era, a world slower, quieter, more deliberate. It was frustrating, yes, but also strangely illuminating. Digital spoils us with endless clicking: trial and error, rapid-fire bursts, the safety of delete buttons. Film does the opposite. It asks for restraint. Every shot mattered. Film captures intention. There’s no instant feedback, no glowing screen to reassure or correct. You press the shutter, and then you wait. Film whispers the value of patience, intention, and quiet artistry, virtues so easily lost in the world of instant everything. It reminds me that photography is less about chasing perfection; but more about presence. The whole process of taking photos really begins with noticing something special around you. This is especially true for macro photography. In nature, there is no perfection; sometimes, it feels chaotic but charismatic in its wilderness. October 2013. I was sitting on a bench in Valencia’s Old Town (Ciutat Vella - ESP) completely mesmerized by the incredible beauty surrounding me. Ornate balconies, warm-colored facades, cobblestone paths, and that golden Mediterranean light… it was all too beautiful to fully absorb in one sitting. My pro Nikon camera rested on my knees, marking me as the tourist I truly was. But in that moment, I didn’t mind. I wanted to look like someone soaking it all in, without the haste inherent to someone who has been here hundreds of times. Every step through Valencia’s Old Town pulsed with a seductive energy I hadn’t felt in a long time. It was as if the city itself was flirting, with its balconies dripping in bougainvillea, the echo of flamenco from a far-off courtyard, the tiled details on forgotten walls. It fed my soul, and I was hungry for more. Even the signs in Spanish gave me that quiet thrill. Like running your fingers across a soft cashmere sweater, familiar yet luxurious, comforting yet new. I wanted to wrap myself in that feeling and never take it off. When I boarded the small plane to Seville , I felt a mix of sadness and anticipation. I wasn’t quite ready to leave Valencia but I was excited for what was next. That’s the thing about solo travel: it’s a dance between holding on and letting go. 2013. It was 8 AM when the plane landed at El Prat Airport in Barcelona—the first stop of my audacious journey... The warm Mediterranean air wrapped around me like an old friend, instantly inviting me into the unknown. I had no idea what this city held for me, or what the next one would reveal. But something inside me whispered that this trip would change everything. And it did. Exploring Barcelona felt like being dropped into a dream painted in bold colors and old stories. Every street, every building, every shadow held a secret for anyone willing to look and listen. I’ll never forget running my fingers along the weathered stone walls in the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gótico), or how my eyes couldn’t get enough of the kaleidoscope of color and whimsy in Park Güell. I stood in awe before the towering masterpiece of La Sagrada Família, trying—and failing—to comprehend its enormity. That trip taught me more than how to navigate new streets or pack light. It taught me to slow down, to feel deeply, to embrace the sweetness and the ache, and to live as an open-hearted observer of life. It reminded me that being a stranger in a city isn’t lonely—it’s liberating.
