Light and time of day

Light plays a crucial role in interior design photography anywhere, but in Spain, it becomes even more important. The sunlight here is strong and directional, especially in the southern regions. This creates beautiful contrasts and also requires careful timing. Early morning and late afternoon often provide the most balanced and soft light, while midday light can be more challenging but also more dramatic if used intentionally. Understanding how light enters the space and at what time is key to capturing it at its best.

Working with historical spaces

Historical buildings require a different level of attention. They are not always symmetrical or predictable. Walls may not be perfectly straight, spaces can feel irregular, and every room has its own character. This means you need to spend more time exploring angles and compositions. But that is also where the beauty is. There is always something unexpected to discover: a reflection, a texture, a small detail that adds depth to the image. In many ways, photographing these interior spaces feels less technical and more intuitive.

Creating a visual story

As an interior design photographer in Spain I focus on the atmosphere of a space, beyond its visual appearance. In Spain (Malaga, Marbella, Ronda, Estepona and more), this often means slowing down and observing. Not every shot needs to be wide and descriptive. Sometimes the most powerful images come from details, how light touches a surface, how fabrics fall, how colors interact. This is especially true for boutique hotels, villas, and design-focused spaces, where the experience is built through details.
